The role of the Figaro Beneteau Class Association
Presided by Jean-Bernard Le Boucher the Class Association’s role is to :
- Assemble and represent the interests of the current and future owners and skippers of the One Design Figaro Beneteau 3s.
- Coordinate with the Class’ various event organisers the annual calendar of events.
- Promote sailing and competition in the class
- Manage the details of the Solo, Two-handed and fully-crewed events
- Manage the One Design Class Rule
- Assist and support the skippers and their partners
- Manage the Class’ media and communications
The elected members of the board (mostly active skippers) are assisted by the class secretariat (cfb.admin@orange.fr).
The Management Board runs three permanent commissions (Measurement/Safety & ESR, Events, Communications) so as to enable the different responsibilities of the class to be managed by the people most directly impacted by the decision making, the sailors and owners. A member of the the Management Board heads up each commission.
A technical coordinator to support the skippers
Since 2019, the class has leant on a professional Technical Coordinator who, in collaboration with the Class Measurers and the Measurement and Safety Commission works with the skippers and their support crew to propose technical solutions to the Management Board so as to enhance the and help evolve the strict One Design Class Rules.

The Race Committee is responsible for:
- Contacting clubs, towns or organisations likely to organise events for our circuit,
- Drawing up the calendar of events,
- Approving the rules of the French Elite Offshore Racing Championship, in agreement with the French Sailing Federation,
- Reviewing the sporting results of each championship event and analysing areas for improvement in the organisation in consultation with each organiser,
- Collaborating with the organisers of solo, double-handed and crewed races to examine their specific issues.

The Safety and CSR Committee is responsible for:
- Studying requested regulatory changes,
- Responding to various requests for interpretation of the rules,
- Enforcing the Class Rules,
- Organising the various measurement sessions,
- Monitoring the boats' certificates of compliance,
- Approving the Class Measurer,
- Ensuring compliance with offshore racing safety rules.
The CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Committee is responsible for:
- Seeking out and implementing solutions or principles to reduce the Class's carbon footprint during offshore racing events,
- Contributing to environmental protection by encouraging or, where appropriate, requiring members, organisers and partners to change their behaviour, practices and the equipment used during events,
- Encouraging commissions, committees and councils to consider and incorporate concrete actions aimed at protecting the environment.
- From 2023, the CSR Commission and the Measurement and Safety Commission will merge.
